Performance dreadful after move into DMZ - any ideas what to check ?

Hi,

We've recently set up a POC statusnet server which has worked fine on our internal network.

Last week i set up SSL and moved the server into our DMZ to run over HTTPS using LDAP authentication. Everything works fine but the performance is atrocious, before it was taking a couple of seconds max to post an update, now it's taking consistently 45sec a post but does get there eventually. This issue occurs irrespective of location ie the server is based in NL and the performance is as bad in NL as it is from the UK.

I'm at a loss as to what is happening here but it's as if it's trying to do something and timing out thus giving the consistent but slow result.

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

  • @Mike
Looks like you have DNS resolutions issue :-/
  • Thanks - I'll check this but i believe we mostly use IP addresses in the config file.
  • Guys - i found the problem , it was Geonames. By turning this module off the performance returned to it's previous level.
