  • You should use linux platform (debian or suse) with full root access (virtual server)
  • @silversurfer Thank you for your information.
I am using GoDaddy hosting ---> Linux share hosting (economic).. is it okey? :)

    My computer run Windows..
I am little confusing about how to install software like: xmpp, mail server and others.
because I should run it first in my computer (Windows) and then install to my hosting server (Linux). Any suggest?

  • shared hosting isnĀ“t enough. you need full root access. like this: http://www.godaddy.com/Hosting/virtual-dedicated-servers.aspx

no idea, how to install status.net on windows.
  • @silversurfer
wow... its to expensive.. US$ 29.99 / month
do you know more cheaper hosting? :)

why shared hosting isn't enough? what is full root access?
Does full root access means full control in FTP root?
please give me detail information, I have no experience in this case..

Thank you for your kind attention.
  • @gladies its expensive because you get what you pay for, you will not be able to setup the mail xmpp or realtime features of satusnet on shared hosting.

I recommend debian or ubuntu server.
  • Oh.. i see.. :)

hm.., what do you think with hostgator Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting?
    http://www.hostgator.com/vps-hosting/
could it run statusnet software perfectly in that hosting?
more cheaper than godaddy.. haha.. XD
  • @gladies looks decent, you will have to use centos-testing repo for php5 to get a version that statusnet supports.
  • oh i see...
    thank you @aric :)
  • but if I use this server :https://securesignup.net/portal/cart.php/ What are the disadvantages?, howsoever it works right? well, at least the basics ?
    =(
