Upgrade to 0.9.1 now getting fatal error

I upgraded from 0.8.2 to 0.9.1 and now I'm getting the following error when I try to post updates:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /var/www/statusnet/lib/arraywrapper.php on line 51

I followed the steps in the README for upgrading. Any advice?

    @stravis you need to increase you memory setting for php, do you know how to do this?
    yours in set to 16megabytes right now, which is to low for statusnet to function properly.
