Drupal

can Status.net and Drupal share the same username and password?

Comments

  • are we talking about the single sign-on?
  • Thanks @aric.
    no. all users in status.net.
  • @sam status.net is a drupal site :P can you be more specific? also IRC might be better for this.
  • Thanks @aric.

I am trying to see if I can integrate a blog (not micro-blog) function into status.net so users have a blog if they want.
  • ahh, sounds cool. same user name as password eh? yeah i think we could swing that.
  • thanks @aric.
    so what should I do?
  • I dunno i guess we need some kind of hook on registration that passes usernames and passwords to drupal.

would this only be for site owners? (ie those with the owner role)
  • Thanks @aric.
I was thinking about that blog function for every user.
  • @sam that sounds like it would be too much, do you really want 100,000 users/blogs on your drupal install? :) also statusnet accounts are openid providers, so that might be a good way off hooking them up.
  • thanks @aric.
I just want to make the blog function optional to every user. they will need to activate the blog function if they want to use it.

openid sounds good. do I need to register my site as openid provider somewhere?
  • @sam *.statusnet net sites are the openid provider, the drupal site would need to be an openid consumer
  • you can test openid here http://www.wasab.dk/morten/2007/11/openid/

for example, a sing user would enter sitename.status.net to sign on
and community user would enter sitename.status.net/nickname to sign on.

  • thanks @aric. I am not familiar how openid works but will look into it.

you mentioned "status.net is a drupal site" in your previous reply. what do you mean by that?
  • @sam we talked about this in person, still have questions?
  • Thanks @aric. does wordpress support openid?
  • I just fount out there is a plugin form worpress to support openid
