Did anyone figure out how to change the message a user sees when they are not logged in?
I would like to edit this:
"This is siteName, a micro-blogging service based on the Free Software StatusNet tool. Join now to share notices about yourself with friends, family, and colleagues! (Read more)"
@mktw What file do I need to change to edit the same message on a users profile:
"userName has an account on siteName, a micro-blogging service based on the Free Software StatusNet tool. Join now to follow adamdesautels's notices and many more! (Read more)"
Found it, for anyone else who wants to change this, edit the actions/showstream.php file (the text you want to change is towards the bottom of the file).
@AdamD ur rite... this place is also hacked in my script ;) be sure to write in put some comments and also write in seperate text file of all files changed. I use this for putting the updations on any new version coming :)
@mktw - Good call, I have started a txt file that includes a list of all my changes to avoid complications when updating versions of StatusNet.
Now I am looking for the file to change the footer area that reads:
"siteName is a microblogging service. It runs the StatusNet microblogging software, version 0.8.3, available under the GNU Affero General Public License."
I will update this post when I find it. Unless someone posts the solution on this thread first.
From the license: "d) If the work has interactive user interfaces, each must display Appropriate Legal Notices; however, if the Program has interactive interfaces that do not display Appropriate Legal Notices, your work need not make them do so."
So, by inference "siteName is a microblogging service. It runs the StatusNet microblogging software, version 0.8.3, available under the GNU Affero General Public License." must be the appropriate legal notice? Or is it just the reference to the AGPL licence?
Also, do the notices have to be displayed on every page or just "somewhere in the UI?"
From the Wiki ... "If you changed the source code of your StatusNet installation, you have to share the source with your users. You could upload your code on a source code hosting service. Note that Google Code does not accept the GNU Affero General Public License! A simple way to share your source code is to just create an archive (zip, tar) and link to it on your service. Even the slightest source code change like adding Metatags enforces you to publish your source code."
I think we are all agreed with this as it's a good thing! But what about other derivative works that interface with status.net?
For example, say an extra button/link is added to the status.net source code that then forces us to share the modified source - I have no issue with this. But what about independent code (that is not a plugin) that is written to run when someone clicks that extra button mentioned and uses some data from the status.net database?
Please don't think that I am being pedantic, I think things just need clarifying.
May I humbly suggest a page in the Wiki with plain speaking text and maybe usage scenarios - i.e. you can do this, but you can't do this?
Also, does joining the "StatusNet Enterprise Network" (or purchasing "custom development") exempt you from the above restrictions?

Have you find how to change the footer ?
Thanks,
Does everything need to stay or just specific items?
