(federation) Not receiving updates from some users

I have quite I weird problem with other federated users:

- you can find my instance here http://status.francopetri.com/all
- I made a test account on www.identi.ca/testfranco
- I (federated user) can subscribe to testfranco@identi.ca (and receive notice about his dents)

But:
- I have subscribed to evan@identi.ca and evan@status.net and in both cases when he posts I don't receive any notice
- https://freesocial.org/mmn is following me but it doesn't show in my "followers" group
- !feds dents get relayed to me with no problem, it seems

So it seems it "half works".

I am pretty puzzled by the fact that I have problems with just some users and not others. :S
mmn suggested something about daemons https://freesocial.org/notice/3165760 , but are they required with oStatus. I did not find mention of them in the oStatus plugin readme.

Do you have any idea on what the problem could be?
Any help is appreciated!

The daemons definitely help. On my instance, I don't get any offsite notices (that is OStatus) unless the daemons are running.
