URL shortening not working

One of the users of my statusnet installation has found that url shortening is not working for him. He has tried changing the choice of shortener (including url.ca) without success. Shortening works for me though. He is using Firefox.

Any suggestions as to how to get to the bottom of this?

  • Another user had the same problem and I noticed the following entries in the log file:

    2010-02-19 22:15:39 LOG_DEBUG: Posting to http://identi.ca/index.php?action=postnotice
    2010-02-19 22:15:40 LOG_DEBUG: omb.php - Error status 5002010-02-19 22:15:40 LOG_DEBUG: Failed posting to http://identi.ca/index.php?actio
    n=postnotice

  • Well, that error is related to OpenMicroBlogging... your system is trying to post a notice to identi.ca over OMB and can't for some reason. Possibly a stale subscription.

    When you say that URL shortening is not working for him, what happens? Does it say his notice is too long to post? Or does he get some other error message? BTW, shortening only happens if the the notice with the URL is longer than your text limit (140c by default).
  • Thanks, I'll check back with them and find out the exact error.
  • They didn't get any error message, but I spotted this in the logs:

    2010-02-25 04:50:41 LOG_DEBUG: action.php - User error '400' on 'newnotice': There was a problem with your session token. Try again, please.
