Can't upload avatar image

Tried several resolutions (400x400, 200x200 and 80x80) and several formats (jpg, png) but identi.ca keeps telling me that I use the wrong image format.

Nowhere is stated what a correct format would be. Looks pretty broken to me. Could you troubleshoot me and let me know what I'm doing wrong.

  • Avatar upload is broken at identi.ca at the moment. @evan is on it and attempts to fix it: http://evan.status.net/notice/1334923
  • I have the same thing on my private status.net, any indication of what might cause it?
  • This is great news. Thanks @habi for letting us know. Has this ever been fixed?
  • Ok, looks like it's solved. Any way I can mark this thread solved?
  • @willonestone I can delete the thread if you and @gvansanden don't mind.
  • @habi before closing the discussion (rather secondary) please first close the actual ticket in the issue tracker here: http://status.net/open-source/issues/3561

due to another technical problem with status.net log-in I can't even log into the issue tracker at the moment :S

Imo, it would be P1 to keep the issue database clean. When that is done, take care of the forum. Feel free to delete this thread though. But if you have the time and contacts please forward the log-in issue (happening on several browsers).

    All the best :)
  • I'm only monitoring the forum as a volounteer and I am not able to close tickets in the issue tracker. Frankly, I've even given up submitting and watching tickets there, since there seems to be no response by the developers.
I'll leave this thread for "historic" reasons.
  • @habi Hm, I was thinking that. Maybe Evan needs to think about granting access to the issue tracker to more people. Who has access currently? I'm sure there are volunteers like you, who'd love to take care of the bug tracker. But then you'd need access.

And if a bug database is maintenanced properly, it is of much greater benefit to the devs.
  • I have the same problem... It says the picture is in the wrong format but I have tried every format and a lot of different sizes... Any word on when this will be fixed?
  • @Clow I think it is already fixed, from what I see in the discussion.

Are you using Identica or your own StatusNet instance?
  • I am not sure how to answer that question so here is the link
    https://see.status.net/
  • @Clow Hosted on the SN cloud. You should e-mail support@status.net and evan.

For those who are self-hosted, be sure you set the path to the avatar directory (in control panel and/or config.php) and make sure that the web server's user account has read/write access to everything in the avatar directory.
