we are looking for a system, to enhance the internal communication for our company,
and are evaluating status.net for this now.
It has a lot of features we need, but some are missing.
i.e. we would need the minus char (or another Char as Replacement) to be allowed for user and groupnames.
The reason is:
- we will use LDAP-Authentication, and some users in MS-AD have the MinusChar inside their UserId (samAccountname).
- we would use groups for information-Channels, and we would need a hierarchical structure for them.
We could name them by type "department-topic-detail", but this will only be readable if any special Char is included, like the Minus-Char.
(GroupNames could be:
it-softwarexy-newfeature,
it-softwarexy-maintenance,
it-server003-maintenance,
it-network-subsidiary
it-network-datacenter
hr-training-new
hr-personnel-info
hr-personnel-new
and so on )

1.0.x looks great.
For evaluation and testing, we would likely use the 1.0.x.
i have donloaded the current version 1.0.x , upgraded from 0.9.7, but after trying to create a new group (with only letters in it) i got:
DB error: no such field.
Is there any upgrade-sql script i should run (i didn't find db/0.9to1.0.sql skript), or should we better test 1.0.0alpha1 ?
With 1.0.x (March 26 and April 5 versions) it is possible to enter underscore for group names, this would be fine for us.
But it seems, that they are immediately removed from the name.
Furthermore even search fails on 1.0.x.
I know that this is an developer version, but i am not sure if this is an caused by the developer version, or if our installation is corrupt.
"If you can wait a month or so, 1.0 will have support for dashes, underscores and maybe some unicode special chars in user and group names. "
now we have migrated to 1.0.1, and it is possible to enter underscores for creating groups, but the created group has no underscores in its name (seems they were trimmed away). (just it was in 1.0.x).
