I have setup a private instance of statusnet hosted by dreamhost. I have been trying to get the desktop linux client to connect. I get the bad nickname bad password error. I have uncommented the two lines in the .htaccess file as has been suggested in other threads. As an alternative I have tried to user other clients such as twibble, and pidgin with the statusnet plugin and all return with an authentication error. Also, using windows and it's desktop client also return bad nickname, bad password.

from reading extensively over the passed few days it seems that some people have had luck with uncommenting the two lines in .htaccess, while other people do not. I gather from searching that the statusnet desktop and mobile clients don't work with statusnet 1.1.0, is this correct? if so, will there be versions of the statusnet desktop and mobile clients working soon? if not, what other mobile apps, or clients do people have working with 1.1.0? I am a blackberry user and many of my statusnet followers are android and iphone users.

Atom / RSS favorites always empty

On StatusNet Desktop, `favorites` seems always empty.

These do not contains any notices.

Is this caused by common_current_user() in lib/util/php ?
This function returnes NULL value.
Then, FilteringNoticeStream::filter($notice) (in lib.FilteringNoticeStream.php:90) returns false.

public timeline empty

the public timeline remains empty when using the statusnet desktop.
A colleague has tried using tweetdeck, but is experiencing the same issue.

the microblog plugin for pidgin seems to work, but the interface is rather limited....

any ideas what this might be?

StatusNet-Client can not show friends timeline in android.

I download statusnet-client and try to run it in android emulator. And can't show timeline.

Trace the code, I found in status_timelineview.js have follow code:

But in timeline.html

I found it's a string in android but it's a object in iphone!!!!!!!!

And the obj is {apiroot=http://statusnet-server/api/, username=user1}

So the program crash in eval('(' + obj + ')');

I guess it's a bug of Titanium.App.fireEvent.

But Anybody can tell me how to fix this issue?

Bad nickname or password

Been trying to get the desktop app to work with both bunker18.status.net and identi.ca. Neither seem to work? FInding server is ok, but we get bad nickname or password when trying to add the account. (It's not the wrong password or nickname:) )

Desktop & iPhone: login works, send notice works but timeline is always empty

After installing Statusnet 1.0.1 setting up users sending some posts through the webinterface I installed desktop for mac and iPhone app. I was able to login with both and also sending notices which are visible on webinterface but the desktop & iPhone are not able to receive timeline items.

in the desktop application the two "loading arrows" are continuously turning. the iPhone says "Loading..." but nothing is shown.

Is there a Desktop version that works with 1.0?? 0.9.1 doesn't work since upgrade to StatusNet 1.0 from 0.9.7.

Have looked all over but cannot find any new StatusNet Desktop version?

Links open inside the client window instead of browser

Clicking any link in timeline in Desktop causes the desktop itself to become a small part of the web page and then there is no way to navigate (scrollbars or drag) nor to go back to the client correct display. How to force links to open up in the browser?

Trying to use statusnet desktop, works to connect to identi.ca but not to my server on my intranet:

I get Bad nickname or password error, i know they are correct, Server is version 0.9.6 statusnet is rooted

no fancy URLs, i have entered all variations into "server" to get it to work!! help!!! thanks so much!!!!!!!!

Incorrect Parse of timeline messages

I recently migrated a running instance of statusnet from a test machine into one of our production webservers. The migration was executed without problems and after some minutes statusnet was up and running. However after the migration we noticed that all our statusnet desktop clients started to display all the messages in the timeline in the following format:

example #1:

As you can see the Desktop client is not parsing the messages correctly, but they all display perfectly in the website. I already checked all the language setting and charset encoding of the database and they seem to be fine (utf-8).

Any ideas of what is going on here? Again... on the website everything works fine, this issue only affect the timeline display in the desktop client, even the messages that I post from the desktop client...

higher text limit in statusnet desktop ?

we have increased text limit on statusnet server, but using "new notice" in Statusnet Desktop always shows 140 Char.

and are evaluating status.net (1.0.x) for this now.
This would be only internal, not accessible over the internet, not accessible for customers.
We would use groups for information-Channels, and we would need a hierarchical structure for them.

Broken Public Timeline Icon

Launch the Mac Desktop App 0.9.1, the status net public timeline icon in the upper left shows the app logo (the 'Q'). About a second later, the icon disappears and is replaced by the blue image missing icon. I've tried removing StatusNet Desktop with AppZapper and reinstalling. Problem persists.

Other icons display fine.

hi, I used the godaddy share host to set up a statusnet service with the statusnet 0.9.6, and then tried to connect to it via desktop client (newest release), but it kept returning message saying "bad nickname or password", I am 100% sure I got the right name. Anyone got any ideas?

1) when the statusnet desktop client is launched on Vista (do not know about other platforms) it takes quite a while before anything is displayed. So long that one might think it did not launch. One solution would be to put up a small splash screen so one knws something is happening. I wonder however if this is a Titanium start-up issue???

2) after desktop client starts, it displays stale content (from most recent launch I assume) It should have a message that informs user it is fetching new fresh info.

Statusnet Desktop (Windows) installation on PC without internet connection

I want to install Statusnet Desktop (Windows) on PC that have no internet connection.
That PC will connect with intranet statusnet server.

But installation will fail at "downloading javascript module (1.0.0)" step.
How can I fix these.
Can I manually download that javascript module and install manually?
Please advice.

Desktop client install error

trying to install on my Arch 64 bit. I download and launch the installer and get this error:
Couldn't find required file:/home/cer/.titanium/runtime/linux/1.0.0/libkhost.so

That directory (.....linux/1.0.0) is empty, where are those files supplied from?

Ned ability to change font size in Desktop client

Some people e.g. @stav have LESS YOUNG eyes than others e.g. @evan these unfortunates would bow deeply if Desktop client allowed one to bump up font size.

Not saying ~I would use (or, forfend, NEED) such a feature, but I care deeply about @stav, although one must overlook his taste for classical musing.

StatusNet Desktop notices in different order than SN site?

I've noticed that my StatusNet site displays notices in the order in which they are received, while StatusNet Desktop displays notices in the order of the notices' date. Normally those should be the same, but in my case I stopped receiving notices from StatusNet sites for two weeks. When I restarted my daemons, two weeks' worth of notices started flooding in. But because I had two weeks of more recent notices from Twitter, none of my notices from my friends on identi.ca showed up in StatusNet Desktop even though they did appear on my site.

Is the difference in ordering logic by design or should one or the other be changed?

Can I link my Status Desktop to my localhost?

I installed Status Desktop as my desktop client for my own status.net setup. I have added successfully one account linked to a remote site (run by me). But I cannot add another account to my localhost with user/password and http://localhost as the site. The localhost is up and running fine in my browser.

The purpose to link to my localhost is that I am doing some tweaking to my status.net setup.

Any hints?
